Qatari ID cards, visas and most passport forms use an unusual 38 × 48 mm photo on a white background, while the older passport application takes the square 51 × 51 mm size. The head should be centred with a neutral expression, the ears visible where hair and dress allow, and no shadow behind. Because 38 × 48 mm is close to, but not the same as, the European 35 × 45 mm, a photo cut for Europe is normally rejected here. Applications go to the Ministry of Interior; printing is on 10 × 15 cm paper.
